Thanks to a loyal band of volunteers and supporters the Ball Park parkrun has been running strong each Saturday morning since January 26, 2024.
“While parkrun has had a fantastic team of volunteers, the team would love to see some new faces join them!”
The roles available each week include:
- Run Director (Coordinator)
- Timekeeper
- Barcode Scanner
- Finish Token Distributor
- Lagoon Marshal
- Roundabout Marshal
- Event Course Checker
- Tailwalker
Parkrun has made these roles easy and enjoyable, allowing anyone to get involved in their local community event.
Organiser Emma Forrest said the parkrun initiative aims to bring together locals and visitors for a 5km run, jog, walk, or stroll.
“We’re particularly excited about the wonderful participation from juniors,” Emma said.
“Their smiles and high-fives of encouragement to fellow runners make the atmosphere even more special.
“We also welcome participants of all ages and abilities, but please remember that Under 11 runners must be supervised by an adult at all times, and scooters are not allowed.
“Dogs on short leads are also welcome for the safety of all participants.”
Emma said she is thrilled to see an influx of tourists from all over Australia enjoying our beautiful region and participating in our parkrun.
“It’s truly one of the most welcoming and inclusive health initiatives around,” she added.
The Ball Park parkrun course features three loops along the stunning Murray River, starting just to the left of Corowa Lawn Tennis Courts. A run brief starts at 7:45am before they kick off at 8am.
“If you’re interested in helping us keep this event running every Saturday, we can assure you’ll feel that rewarding volunteer buzz!” Emma said.
Ms Forrest also thanked the following supporting organizations:
- Corowa Rutherglen Football Netball Club
- Federation Council
- Club Corowa
- Redgum Medical Centre
- Federation Steel
- Health Culture
- HC Health Hub
