Round 4 saw YMCC at home against RBUCC Green on the magnificent Stan Hargraves Oval.
After winning the toss co-captains Lachlan Phillips and Ben Kennedy elected to have a bat for the first time this season.
Mixing up the batting order saw Tom Lovell and Geoff Montgomery open the innings and they got the Lakers off to a flier, before Tom was adjudged LBW.
This brought Ben Kennedy to the crease and with Geoff Montgomery set about turning the strike over with excellent running between the wickets, the score was on 40 after 8 overs with the boys going well.
This was until Ben was caught for a quick 14, Jobe Fraser came to the crease and looked set from the word go, making a solid 12 before feathering an edge behind.
Ollie Cope was next in and kept the scoreboard ticking over with quick singles.
Geoff was then caught for a well-made 26, with the score at 4-65 after 20 overs.
The boys knew they had to dig deep; Daniel O’Brien showed great patience blocking the good balls before he too was caught and TJ Docking kept the runs coming with 9 runs to his name.
Mitch Appleby strode to the crease and punished everything from the word go, making a rapid and much needed 40 before being retired to try to give all the players a bat.
After the 41st over the YMCC were all out for 134.
The boys know they will need to be on from the start and keep the bowling tight against a quality opposition next Saturday if they are to be a chance of getting the win.

Under 12s Rams
The temperature was above 30 degrees when the Rams walked out to field, and it was a tough innings in the heat.
It took them until the last over of the day to get wickets. Jordan Knight bowled the last over when a ball was skied in the air and Darcy Hargreaves took a good catch in the outfield.
The last ball of the innings was hit to the boundary where Benji Wollington saved a 4, threw the ball into Eamon Pickering’s gloves as the wicket keeper and he took the bails off for a runout.
After a poor batting display the week before, the Rams batting improved greatly with Taj Parker and Slater Goudy both hitting plenty of boundaries and making 24 runs each.
Isaac McLarty hit 3 boundaries with his dad’s special cricket bat.
Lucas Pickering played plenty of classy shots to finish not out as well as Mitchell Smith not out for the second week in a row.
