Member for Northern Victoria, Mark Gepp MP is encouraging local groups and organisations to apply for funding of up to $80,000 through the 2022-23 Men’s Shed Funding Program – to support the construction of new men’s sheds or the refurbishment or extension of existing sheds.
Men's sheds provide a place for people to get together, work on common projects and contribute to their community.
“These grants will help men’s sheds grow and welcome new members, providing a place for people across our community to connect and supporting their wellbeing,” Mr Gepp said.
“I know the importance of men’s sheds. They provide informal, male-friendly, and safe spaces for men to interact with others – combatting social isolation, helping improve health & wellbeing and creating a sense of belonging.
“I encourage men’s sheds and organisations across Northern Victoria to apply before June 30.”
Studies show that men’s sheds contribute to better mental health, better physical health and energy levels, improved confidence, better partner relationships, new friendships and learning new skills.
There are currently more than 360 communities with men’s sheds throughout Victoria.
