A dedicated group of players braved the wet and wild conditions on Saturday morning

The usual Sunday fixture was rescheduled to make way for the final round of the GMGA winter pennant, which was held at Nagambie Golf Club on Sunday.

So a stroke event took place on Saturday, culminating in an exciting three-way tie at the top.

The eventual winner on countback was Dean Brown with 89-12-77. The sticky ground and blustery wind made achieving a good score exceptionally challenging.

Graeme Keogh finished second with a score of 101-24-77, a decent result in the trying conditions. Rhys Shepherd rounded out the top three with a well-balanced round of 89-12-77.

Nearest-the-pin prizes were claimed by Ben Cassar, who expertly landed one on the challenging par-3 third, and Shepherd, who made the 16th his favourite with a precise strike.

In the GMGA winter pennant on Sunday, Nagambie triumphed with a 4.5 to 0.5 victory over Merrigum.

It was the fifth and final round of the season, with the Nagambie team missing out on a finals berth after finishing with two wins, two losses and a draw.

Next week’s golf at Nagambie will be par, with S. Bryant on office duty and W. Le Cerf managing the bar.
