Yarrawonga 52 def Lavington 32
Winter netball finally arrived in Yarrawonga on Saturday, with the A grade clash against Lavington being the first wet game of the year.
The Panthers confidence was high after a close loss to the second placed Raiders last week, but the Pigeons were able to contain that with a strong start and early 10 goal lead at quarter time.
Lavington consistently fought back with good opening minutes of each quarter, but Yarrawonga was always able to stem this flow and counterpunch, extending their lead at every break.
Kylie Leslie was at her damaging best, getting lots of tips on an increasingly slippery ball. She was supported by Emily Laracy who rebounded superbly against taller opposition.
Laura Irvine and Tilly Kennedy were a force through the centre of the court, supported exceptionally by Laura Ryan and Gemma Muldoon.
Shooters Bridget Cassar, Maddy Allan and Kaleisha Pell rotated through multiple combinations seamlessly and shot accurately in difficult conditions.
Ending with a 20-goal win, the Pigeons will be looking for a similar result against Myrtleford next week after a disappointing loss earlier in the season.
Best: Kylie Leslie and Maddy Allan.

It was a wet and rainy afternoon for the round 11 encounter between Yarrawonga and Lavington. The B grade team were able to start the game strong in the first half even with the very wet conditions.
Delaynee Moon and Mylah Kennedy shot with accuracy, while Abbey Chapman and Emily McNamara worked hard in the midcourt giving the goalers plenty of confidence in their feeding.
Annalise Grinter worked tirelessly in defence to create many turnovers for the girls in attack to capitalise on.
The Lavington girls fought hard to bring themselves back into the game in the third quarter, but it came too late with Yarrawonga running away with a 20 goal victory.
Awards: Players player - Abbey Chapman, Coaches award - Delaynee Moon.

A great redemption game for C Grade this week. Fighting off some ordinary conditions, the girls were able play a strong defensive game, allowing the attacking end to carry the ball down swiftly and score.
With Lavington putting on a great last quarter, the girls were able to stay composed, allowing them to get over the line with a 43-35 win.
Grace Eales and Matilda Jaques played a strong shooting game, barely skipping a beat. While Elle Christian found herself in GD this week, supported by Kirby Holmquest - the pair taking numerous intercepts.
Looking forward to next week with hopefully another strong win against the Myrtleford Saints.
