The Under 16s took to Stan Hargreaves Oval to defend 192 against Rovers on Saturday morning.
Kade Michael (0/10) and Lucas Tonna (0/16) opened the bowling and kept Rovers to a slow run rate in the first eight overs.
Van Kreeck (0/29) and Jobe Fraser (0/6) kept the batsmen thinking and Rovers were 0/61 at the halfway mark of their innings.
The first wicket fell when Lucas Eales took a catch behind off Will Murphy’s bowling in the 25th over. Murphy took his second wicket two overs later with a straight delivery setting off the zinger bails finishing with 2/23.
Nate Sheridan took his first wicket in the 31st with a catch off a top edge from Eales. Sheridan then strode in for the 35th over and what an over.
Jetta Norrish taking a fantastic catch low down from the first ball. Next ball saw Sheridan on a hattrick with a straight delivery. His hat trick was denied with a dot.
Two further dots followed and then another straight delivery saw him finish the over 3/0 and the day with figures of 4/14.
Rovers finished their 40 overs with 6/143 and Lakers with a 49-run victory. Pressure fielding was a real highlight of the day.

The Yarrawonga Mulwala Rams won in a tight contest against Benalla Bushrangers Blue at the Yarrawonga College P-12 oval.
The Rams won the bat flip and elected to bat first. Lachie Brown and Eamon Pickering (25 not out) got the team off to a flying start, finding the boundary on several occasions.
Then the scoring slowed before Finn Mitchell (10 off 15), Jordan Knight (15 off 16), Zaine Rickhuss (17 off 15) and Billy Vagg (10 off 13) batted watchfully and cashed in on the loose deliveries to help the Rams reach a total of 4/114 off their 20 overs.
With the sunshine blazing down the Rams took to the field looking to take some early wickets.
The first wicket to fall was a run out, affected by George Kennedy who is in good fielding form.
The Rams bowlers were creating many chances however they were unable to capitalise. The Bushrangers were making the most of their chances and finding the boundary when needed.
Scores were tight at the halfway mark of the innings, before Mitch Purtle entered the attack and found the edge to snare his first wicket.
The Rams were able to hang on and make it back-to-back wins. With the boys working well as a team and continuing to improve each week, they will be looking forward to the next match against Rovers United Bruck Yellow at home.
