With a new look line up the Hoppers knew they would have to adjust to a different game.
With Hannah Shoppee slipping in the vacant GK position, Abbey Coghill taking the WD spot and Catherine Shaw’s first game, the Hoppers had to rework and settle.
The girls started well but just could not get the ball to drop and against a quality opposition like Tungamah they converted on the scoreboard and skipped away.
Another first gamer Sophie Pattison came on in WA and provided drive and direction linking well with Brooke McD in C.
Brooke McD played a great game for the full 4 quarters picking off intercepts and delivering the ball well into the ring.
The girls worked hard all over the court with some great passages of play and finished the game off with an excellent 4th quarter where Rennie were super competitive.
Thank you to Tayla Mollison for supporting the girls sitting on the bench and the club look forward to the return of Nat Harris who was out injured.
Awards – Priority fitness- Tiarnah Keely, Club Mulwala -Brooke Knight, Belles- Brooke McDougall.
B Grade
Rennie 16 defeated by Tungamah 49.
The cold and windy conditions along with a strong Tungamah side made it a difficult day for Rennie.
Rennie had some great passages of play, but it wasn’t frequent enough.
Celine and Maddie worked well in defence but Tungamah goalers never missed.
Leah came on in the second quarter which provided more movement in the centre court.
Best players were Jess and Danielle who fought all game and worked hard in the goal circle.
The Rennie girls never gave up but were out classed by a strong Tungamah team.
Awards – Yarrawonga Hotel – Jess Panter, One Zach – Leah Wilson, Publican Daugther– Danielle Walker.
C Grade
Rennie 15 defeated by Tungamah 42.
The Hoppers played in very fierce winds this week, however the girls kept pushing and performing at their best.
The pressure given by Anika and Knucky in defence, backed up by the mid-court was consistent and lead to many ball turn overs.
Brie’s lead in the mid court made the ball flow down court to the shooters.
Steph’s centre turn overs did not go unnoticed, backed up by Nada and Laura.
The attackers shot beautifully in the harsh winds throwing the ball around in the air, securing many rebounds.
Leonie coming into the ring added a height advantage, making it easier to feed into the goals.
Jae’s communication to the defenders made the ball easier to intercept and put the game back in the Hoppers favour. Overall, really strong effort by the Hoppers girls.
Awards – Priority Fitness -Anika Walsh, Club Mulwala – Nada Nolen, Hardluck – Steph Munro

Rennie 11 defeated by Tungamah 43.
The Hoppers came out the first quarter with fire in their stride, but the cold and windy conditions made goal accuracy difficult for them.
Top of the ladder Tunga girls provided too strong and came away with a good win.
There was good teamwork and passes through the centre and great rebounding in the goals, the defence has their hands full and did their utmost against the top team.
Awards Yarrawonga Hotel- Eden MacKinnon, Publican Daughter - Jess Butcher, Hardluck - Bree Williams.
Under 17s
Rennie 60 defeated Tungamah 3.
Another great win by the girls this weekend.
This week, the girls missed out on training due to school requirements and it caused a slower start than normal.
Saying this, the girls worked hard to get their voices across the court on an extremely windy day and build their team connections.
This week’s game was always going to be challenging, coming up against girls they know really well from the local community, and they did a great job on putting their feelings aside and focusing on the game ahead.
The goalers this weekend, Brooke Knight, Ella Rhodes and Sophie O’Dwyer worked hard to ensure that each rebound opportunity would be utilised from the defenders turns overs by Hannah Shoppee, Abbey Coghill and a surprise return to the ring by Mia Doherty.
The game couldn’t have been as effective as it was with such high scoring margins without the effort of the mid courters, Sophia Shaw, Steph Munro and Scarlett York who knew where to pass the ball and were able to control the games speed.
The girls have set a goal for the coming weeks, to put in the effort as a team to be united and equally determined for the ball and strong wins against their opponents.
Bring on next week!
Awards: Rhodes Family- Scarlett York, Redback -Steph Munro, Wingates -Mia Doherty.
Under 15s
Rennie 46 defeated Tungamah 18.
With the freezing cold wind whipping across the court, it was a slow start to the game.
Mia Wheaton and Lucy Bassett worked well together in goals while down the other end Abbey Shoppee, Mia Elliott and Helena Shaw locked out the shooters with many turn overs.
With such a flexible group of girls Lucy and Mia E were able to swap ends while Mia W and Laynee swapped as well.
Violet and Georgia were excellent contributors through the mid court and with all girls working hard we came away with an excellent win.
The Hoppers look forward to the return of 2 injured players Coco Vodusek and Ava Vodusek and wish them a speedy recovery.
Awards – Rhodes family- Abbey Shoppee, Papalias – Laynee Rhodes, Rennie Canteen – Georgia Phillips
U13s
Rennie 25 defeated Tungamah 7.
The wind was an unexpected turn this week for young Hoppers. It taught them to adjust to the weather and make short sharp passes which paid off with another great win.
The shooters worked overtime to make sure they were coming forward to the ball and not lobbing into the ring with the windy conditions.
The mid court is where most of the intercepts came from making it an easy game for the defenders.
Once again, a great win for the girls and it is great to see how far they have come already.
Awards – Rhodes family-Darla Lawless, Robinson Family – Demi Rhodes, Yarrawonga fish and chips – Tess Bassett.
U13s development
A great game with 6 quarters being played giving the girls more court time.
Allowing all the girls to play at least 2 positions.
Girls are doing well with the centre pass both in attack and defence.
The Hoppers are working on who takes throw ins and free passes, also leading forward for the pass and staying tight on their player when defending.
These are improving each week. Well done girls.
