Last year, the Puckapunyal Cup returned to the Seymour Racing Club calendar and has now moved to the marquee Sunday slot, promising entertainment for the whole family.
With gates opening at noon, the jam-packed schedule includes:
• eight races, with the first at 1.30pm (TBC);
• free entry for all ADF members and families;;
• free marquee for ADF personnel
• kids’ activities including face painting and pony rides;
• presence of the Light Horse Brigade; and
• ADF static displays (ASLAV, Bushmaster and G-Wagon).
SRC chief executive Chris Martin said the day would feature high-quality country racing while paying homage to the nation’s military history and Seymour’s connection to the Puckapunyal Army Base.
“The Puckapunyal Cup was a massive success last year and to have it moved to a weekend meet this year is huge for the club,” Martin said.
“Our region has a proud military history and we’re pleased we can provide a day to celebrate our past and current ADF personnel.
“Puckapunyal is a big part of our community and the ADF have really got on board with the Pucka Cup concept.
“We’re excited to be able to host the Light Horse Brigade trackside and provide free entry for ADF personnel and families.”
While the meet will have a distinct military feel, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at the Puckapunyal Cup.
“Outside of the wonderful inclusions for our friends in the ADF, there’s a lot happening on the day to keep everyone busy and entertained,” Martin said.
“For the kids, we’ll have face painting and pony rides trackside and our snack bar and public bar will be open all day.
“The Bar Landy has benefited from some great renovations over the past couple of months, with dining packages available.
“Bring your family and friends to the Puckapunyal Cup and enjoy everything country racing has to offer.”
General admission tickets are available at the gate, with tickets and packages also available online at https://country.racing.com/seymour/calendar/2025/04/27/puckapunyal-cup
