With several new players pulling on the whites at Chittick Park, including the return of club favourite Dan Bergowicz, the Maroons will fancy themselves a chance of knocking off the back-to-back champions.
New arrivals have also included many new sponsors, which has created significant momentum going into the season as well as securing the club’s long-term future, club president Jason Brown says.
The Maroons are not just aiming for success in the A- and B-grade senior competitions but also ambitiously expanding their presence in the junior ranks.
Browns said the club was hoping to field under-16s, under-13s and under-11s this season.
All interested parties are invited to attend training at Chittick Park on Wednesdays at 4.45pm.
If anyone has further inquiries about the Maroons’ junior sides, junior co-ordinator Damian Murphy can be contacted on 0417 140 576.
The under-16s competition is of particular excitement for both the SDCA and the Maroons.
It is being contested for the first time in several years, with six clubs having nominated sides.
Additionally, the SDCA and the Maroons are optimistic an under-13 girls competition will launch for the first time in November.
This is a significant step towards ensuring all Goulburn Valley children can play cricket competitively, and the club is happy to play its part in making this a reality.
