Echuca failed to progress through the Northern Rivers stage of the Kookaburra T20 Cup last weekend after qualifying as last season’s winners of the GMC Hauesler’s Challenge.
Strathdale Maristians triumphed in Sunday’s grand final, beating Katandra by three wickets.
Katandra posted 7-98 from 20 overs, which Strathdale Maristians chased down in 15.4 overs with three wickets in hand.
Echuca finished the weekend with a 1-1 record.
Echuca posted 138 against Arnold in game one, led by Taylor Beard’s 31.
Brendan Moyle and Rylea Jones each claimed three wickets to dismiss Arnold for 88.
They lost their second game against Katandra by nine runs.
Aiming to best Katandra’s 7-115, Echuca fell short in the chase, finishing on 8-106.
Adam Jones hit a team-high 19 runs, while Chris Hinks impressed in attack with three wickets.
Goulburn Murray Cricket Association’s T20 Challenge continued on Thursday night with the final round before the semi finals and grand final games are contested on Sunday.
The final is scheduled for 2pm, Sunday at Gunbower Recreation Reserve.
