Stellar performance leads Mathoura students to state

Three Mathoura Public School students will compete at the NSW PSSA Cross Country Championships in Sydney next Tuesday, July 23.

The three dedicated long-distance runners - Khoa Unwin and sisters Katelyn and Sophie Eddy - took to the bush track in Gundagai as part of the Riverina PSSA Cross Country event.

Despite the cold conditions, the talented squad representing Deniliquin and District displayed remarkable determination and skill, achieving impressive results, including a podium finish.

Sophie (10 years girls) emerged as the strongest runner in her age group from the Riverina, finishing first and earning the title of age champion.

Khoa (11 years girls) delivered an outstanding performance, securing fifth place in her event, while Katelyn (12 years girls) finished in an impressive second place.

This marks the third consecutive year that these three exceptional athletes have qualified for the state level of this competition.

“Mathoura Public School wishes Sophie, Khoa, and Katelyn all the very best,” principal Janice Eddy said.

“We are confident the girls will continue to excel and make the school and community proud.”
