Yarrawonga 54 defeated North Albury 38.
Pigeons up to the physical challenge!
A slow start to the game saw a young North Albury outfit jump to a lead of 2 goals at the first term break.
Yarra come out composed in the second term and turned the game around. Kylie Leslie and Annalise Grinter had a rock-solid performance providing lots of extra opportunity to the attack end.
Laura Irvine and Sharni Hazelman combined well, working off each other and were slick with their drive and feeding into attack.
An extra midcourt rotation saw new addition to the team Liv Lovell step into WD.
Laura and Liv have amazing athleticism and their hands over pressure caused North midcourt to turn the ball over in the second half, with Yarrawonga scoring heavily.
Tilly Kennedy, the swing player she is, started in defence and was fantastic with her drive out of defence, changed into WA in the last half adding a different dimension to the senior attack end.
Tilly combined well with Sarah Senini and Bridget Cassar, directing play and firing the ball in at all angles.
Sarah being the playmaker that she is, rotated with Cassar and outsmarted a youthful, physical North Albury defensive duo.
Best: Kylie Leslie, Sarah Senini.
B Grade
Yarrawonga 39 defeated North Albury 29.
On a gloomy Saturday afternoon, the B grade girls came up against a much-experienced North Albury side, with fresh combinations amongst the playing group.
The first half saw the new defence combination of Ellie Dickins and Sabrina Finch combine well with each other and the goalers Maddie Kennedy and Angela Tyrell step up, in what was a much-improved performance.
The mid-court saw many changes with Macey Hicks coming on for her first B-grade game, with an intercept to start.
Jedda Nolen stepped into the centre bib with ease and Caitlin Seymour and Ebony Woodburn providing a class act, as always.
The game ended with the Yarra girls on top by 10 goals, 39 to 29, and Sabrina, Ebony and Ellie taking out the awards.
C Grade
Yarrawonga 52 defeated North Albury 30.
C grade came up against North Albury this week with only 6 of the original team. This weekend was originally meant to be a bye so unfortunately many team members were missing on holidays.
Alisha Leslie made a comeback into the team to help out and C Grade may be seeing more of her throughout the rest of the year which the club are very excited about.
Three under 17s girls also made their debut into the C grade side this week.
You wouldn’t have known from the sideline though as they fitted in seamlessly into their positions.
Yarrawonga came away with a 22-goal win on Saturday and looking very strong heading into the second half of the season.
Under 17s
Yarrawonga 57 defeated North Albury 34.
The under 17s Yarra girls had a great match Saturday morning against North Albury winning 57 to 34.
The match started off close but with some great defensive pressure throughout the whole court and resulting in intercepts and turn overs, the girls took a good lead.
The team were quick to switch from defence to attack leading long to feed some great balls into the shooters.
